The Story

Laura Evans spent fifteen years in Boston’s restaurant world before she packed up and moved to Silver Springs, the small town in Vermont’s Green Mountains where her Gran brought her every summer. Now she manages the café at the 140-year-old General Store, right on the Village Green, and she’s learning that in a town this size, everyone knows everyone and usually their business too.

When trouble finds its way to town, Laura follows the clues with a little help from the Maplewood Crafters Club, a circle of friends where the town’s news gets passed around with the yarn. Each book is a complete mystery, solved by the last page and wrapped in seasonal festivals, good food and the kind of friendships that feel like coming home.

Before You Begin

Where do I start?

Start with Book 1, Murder At The Summer Cheese Festival. It’s where Laura arrives in Silver Springs and meets most of the town. There are short stories too, and they’re lovely extras, but you don’t need them to follow the novels. The reading order shows where each one fits.

Do I need to read them in order?

They’re best enjoyed in order, since Laura’s friendships and town life grow from book to book. But every mystery is solved by the end of its own book, so each one works on its own too. The reading order lists them all.

What’s the content like?

There’s no swearing, no on-page violence or gore and no explicit scenes. The murders happen off the page, and the focus stays on the puzzle, the people and the town.

Are there recipes and crafts in the books?

Yes. Each novel ends with three original recipes from the story, and a fourth comes as a free Reader Bonus when you sign up from the back of the book. The crafts are woven all through the stories, from crochet and knitting to embroidery and cross-stitch, though there aren’t any patterns to go with them yet.

Is Silver Springs a real place?

Silver Springs is fictional, and so is Maplewood County. It’s a small town in Vermont’s Green Mountains, made up of all the things I love about small New England towns.

When is the next book out?

Book 3, Murder At The Good Neighbor Potluck, comes out November 24, 2026. You can preorder it now, straight from the store.
